LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
FOR 16 AND 17 YEAR
OLDS

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS are for rising high school juniors and seniors who want to train as counselors or wranglers and develop their leadership skills.
There is an application process to be accepted as a CIT or WIT. If you are interested in either of these programs, please complete the registration form. An additional application packet will be mailed. Please note that participation in these programs does not guarantee a staff position in the future. However, 17 year olds who successfully graduate from these programs may be eligible to be employed as Junior Counselors in sessions 3 and 4 of Summer Camp 2008.
Sixteen year olds who successfully graduate will be eligible to work at camp thoughout the following school year. See the 2008

Counselor In Training
(June 8-28)
This three-week vigorous program allows 16 and 17 year olds to participate in various teaching sessions, learning activities and service projects with counselors and two CIT coordinators. Emphasis is placed on working with groups and understanding children and their behavior.
Wrangler In Training
(June 8-28)
WIT is a three-week hands-on program for 16 and 17 year olds to learn basic horse management and how to teach arena horsemanship and western trail riding. Participants also learn the "whys" of horse theory. WIT will complete American Red Cross and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Emphasis will be placed on working with groups and understanding children and their behavior. Responsibilities include assisting instructors in teaching, feeding and basic horse medical care as well as trail and barn maintenance and tack repair. Rodoes, cattle drives and an overnight pack trip are included in this program.
